Just a quick blog today to give a heads up that I will be calling in today at 10:45 EST on Not So Soccer Mom radio! We’ll be discussing Ninja Hosting and the pinup lifestyle! Listen in! We’re LIVE at 10am EST!
I’m a fortunate woman.
As many of you may know, looking for work is a pain in the ass. It’s expensive. It’s frustrating. It’s a lot of waiting around while someone else judges your skill set and value. Fun, right? Well, I find that it can be a happier time with friends and family around.
In “Hosting With Style – Beretta Fleur’s Guide to Parties and Homemaking”, I wrote a chapter called Gracious Hospitality, and I’ve been living it for the past month. Here in West Palm, Florida, my sister’s family and my husband and I have been co-habitating under one roof. Husband and I help out with cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping, and childcare while they give us a roof over our heads while we’re looking for ideal jobs and a home in the area. It’s working out really great! Here’s how I’ve been helping to make our Family Compound feel like a functional home for the past month.
A few months ago, one of my close friends, Kimpossible of the blog Sun and Stars posted about hosting a Spa Makeover- Themed teenager party. Now, I know some brave people, but I feel like it takes a special kind of person willing to open their home to a gaggle of 13 year old gals. After reading her blog post about the successful, fun-looking party, my Hostess Brain scrambled with the logistics behind undertaking such a project. I asked Kim some questions about the planning process.
I love Spring… it just feels like a new opportunity to get into warm weather party mode.
In honor of the year turning toward the warmer months, I’ve compiled a few Pinterest Boards of spring holiday decorating and menu ideas for Passover, Equinox, and Easter festivities, or that will work for a festive brunch, intimate wedding, baby shower, tea, or bridal shower.
I’ve also included a few of my own ideas and recipes too!
Rosanna “Mrs. Right”, one of my lovely Hosting With Style book models, recently emailed me this recipe! It sounds interesting, and while it may be some time before I get my hands on all of these ingredients, I figured I’d pass it along to you anyway.
All ingredients except possibly the fish sauce are reportedly gluten-free. If you use a store-bought rotisserie chicken(optional), make sure that it is gluten-free as well if that is a concern for you. Enjoy!
Springtime is when I like to focus on body health for the year. It feels less like a doomed-to-fail New Year’s Resolution, and more of a reward-oriented system: I get to rock my summer clothes with confidence, and I can make sure I’m strong enough to keep up with all the warm weather activities that I enjoy.I’m a big supporter of total body confidence AND overall health, both mental and physical; no matter what a person’s size, weight, or skill level, I think it’s important to elevate your mood, get stronger, and give your system what it needs to be the best it can be. So I’m going to do a few blog posts about staying Healthy at Home this season.
Kimpossible’s Indoor Cardio
We’re not all able to afford a gym membership, we don’t all live in a climate or area ideal for outdoor workouts, or our schedules include minding little ones or minimal spare time. This post features some at-home workouts, supplied by my dear friend and favorite workout buddy Kimpossible. Some links for cheap equipment (not necessary, but nice to have) are at the end of the post.
Another of my articles is live on OffBeat Home & Life. This one is called Wills and Trusts: What are Your Plans? and it’s something I wrote several months ago while paying a last visit to a dying family friend.
The topic is a little more somber than what I usually approach, but a good thing to dialogue about in every household. Have a look, and be sure to read the comments, some good stuff in there.
This article is dedicated to Grammy W., who I love and miss. Thank you for your memories, and thank you for including me in your family and life. <3

Here’s another high-protein staple in my lunches and dinners this season. Enjoy!
I can say that, while this gal loves her gluten free pizza, bread, cereal, and pasta, and I will never forsake these completely, the lower-carb diet is making me feel great! So I’m going to be sharing some high in protein recipes with you over the next few months.
Here’s my go-to breakfast for when I’m sick of scrambled or poached eggs. It bakes up quickly, and I can eat it for a few days. Enjoy!
